Susan M. Hughes, MD, FACS is a pioneer in facial cosmetic surgery and one of the most experienced and highly trained facial cosmetic surgeons in the region. With over 42 years of expertise, her no-nonsense, honest approach to medicine has earned the trust of thousands of patients throughout Philadelphia and South Jersey.
Dr. Hughes graduated from Manhattanville College and earned her medical degree from George Washington Medical School. She completed her internship at the University of California, Irvine, and her Ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center. She was then selected for a prestigious Oculoplastic Fellowship at Harvard University and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
As a leader in her field, Dr. Hughes has taught in the Oculoplastic Department at Wills Eye Hospital for over 25 years and operates in her AAAHC-certified office-based surgical center in Cherry Hill, NJ, as well as at the Virtua Health Care System hospitals. Her peers have consistently selected her as a Philadelphia “Top Doc” in eyelid plastic surgery and facial cosmetic surgery in Philadelphia Magazine’s annual survey and she has also been recognized as a South Jersey “Top Doc” in Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Hughes is board-certified in Facial Cosmetic Surgery and Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of both the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. She has served as a Trustee and Secretary of the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). She is a member of several esteemed organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Medical Women’s Association, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Physicians for Social Responsibility.
Her expertise includes a full range of non-surgical and surgical facial rejuvenation procedures, including BOTOX®, fillers such as Restylane®, JUVÉDERM®, RADIESSE®, and Sculptra®, laser skin resurfacing, eyelid rejuvenation, facial liposuction, endoscopic brow and cheek lifts, mini-incision facelifts, neck lifts, laser hair removal, and more.
Dr. Hughes has volunteered with Project Orbis, an international non-profit dedicated to fighting avoidable blindness, and has operated and lectured in third-world countries. She also lectures locally, nationally, and internationally in her field.
The oldest of seven children, all doctors, Dr. Hughes comes from a long line of physicians and has dedicated her career to advancing the art and science of facial cosmetic surgery while delivering outstanding care to her patients.
