Talking to Your Doctor Before BOTOX - Hughes Center Blog
As a patient, you always want to hear about how a cosmetic procedure will affect the treated area. Something that may be overlooked on your part is how it will interact with your body. When meeting with the cosmetic surgeons at The Hughes Center Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa in Philadelphia and New Jersey, here are four things the people at BOTOX Cosmetic recommend you should share about yourself:
- All medications you are taking. This includes prescriptions, non-prescriptions, vitamins and herbal products. Also, inform the cosmetic surgeon as to when your last BOTOX treatment was and if it was in the last four months. In addition, did you experience any allergies or side effects.
- Medical conditions. According to BOTOX Cosmetic, most definitely include any muscle or nerve conditions such as ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome. Be sure to talk about any swallowing or breathing problems you have had or currently have.
- List anything that has been done or you’re thinking about having done. According to BOTOX Cosmetic, tell the cosmetic surgeon if you’ve had weak forehead muscles, trouble raising eyebrows or drooping eyelids.
- Pregnancy plans. Inform the cosmetic surgeon if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant. As well, what you are currently doing or planning to do in regard to nursing.
These four areas of information will determine whether or not and how the cosmetic surgeons at The Hughes Center will treat you. Write down any details and bring them to your consultation.
