Springtime Skincare with AHAs - Hughes Center Blog
Just in time for springtime, the sun is beginning to peek out more and our skin is working to recuperate from another winter. When it comes to skincare in the springtime, the cosmetic surgeons at Hughes Center Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa in Philadelphia and New Jersey are here to help you decide what’s best for you.
Although there are many alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as Retin-A and glycolic acid, available over-the-counter and through many forms of promotion and advertising, prescription strength skin care stands strong with products that are proven.
According to research from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), AHAs are used for the following reasons:
- Smoothing fine lines and surface wrinkles
- Improving skin texture and tone
- Unblocking and cleansing pores
- Improving overall skin condition
- Adjusting the pH in cosmetics
With an increase in UV sensitivity when using AHAs, it is advised to add sun protection with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide mineral based products. The glo Minerals makeup line has both of these products with an SPF 20 for two to three hours. This is only available through a physician’s office.
The Hughes Center Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa is committed to providing information and assistance on springtime skin care with AHAs in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area. Our new Med Spa is next door to our current location in Cherry Hill at 1765 South Springdale Road. RSVP to the Cocktail Party by calling us at (856) 751-4554 or sending us a message.
