Laser Skin Resurfacing Options - Hughes Center Blog
If you’ve been trying to fight off fine lines and wrinkles, sagging or loose skin, or dealing with facial pigmentation, and/or skin texture and tone, the cosmetic surgeons at The Hughes Center Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa are now offering Laser Skin Resurfacing. There are several choices on how a patient may undergo this procedure. One of the largest differences among each of the procedures is whether or not the patient wants to spend more downtime undergoing post-operative care. There are three options for patients to choose from in Philadelphia and South Jersey:
1) Traditional CO2 laser skin resurfacing procedure. This treatment has been used by doctors for years and removes thin layers of skin precisely to keep tissue damage to a minimum. Post operation, the skin has a sunburn sensation. It may take up to three months to completely heal, which could be quite demanding, especially if you’re active.
2) Fractionated CO2 with the Fraxel repair and Fractionated Erbium laser technology with the Sciton JOULE. These procedures do not remove the entire surface of the skin like the traditional treatent, which is what fractioned stands for. The lasers can be customized to remove between five to 70 percent of the skin’s surface. Although, the lasers may go 8 to 10 times deeper into the skin, which allows for better skin tightening in wrinkled and acne scarred areas. The sunburn sensation is not as intense with these treatments and the skin is usually pink only four to six weeks.
3) Microlaser peels with Fractionated passes. This procedure is even more simplified than the other three, but offers a fresh feeling, and within four days, the patient may return to regular activity, including work. The treatment may be repeated and is often recommended in a series of three treatments.
